Summary

Sendero Apartments is a 60-unit affordable rental building at 165 Cessna Court in the Avila Ranch neighborhood on the south side of San Luis Obispo. It is the affordable half of Avila Ranch Phase 3, which the Planning Commission approved on February 14, 2024 together with the 85 market-rate Anacapa units across Earthwood Lane. The approval used the state density bonus law; the building was described then as 60 units in one building, with 32 units for low-income households, 27 for moderate-income households and one caretaker unit, in studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom plans.

The city's 2025 General Plan Annual Report listed the project with planning entitlements approved and building permits awaiting submittal at the end of 2025. On September 15, 2026 the City Council approved up to $15 million in tax-exempt bond financing for the project, with no financial obligation for the city. The city's housing coordinator told KSBY the building is being developed by C&C Development Company, funded in part by state and federal low-income housing tax credits, and that construction was expected to begin in October 2026. The September 2026 report describes the units as a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for low-income and lower households.

The 60 units are part of the Avila Ranch plan total and are not additional to it. See the Avila Ranch page for the master plan and its other phases.
