Summary
Vista Meadows is a faculty and staff housing neighborhood of 34 for-sale single-family homes on a six-acre site at the northeast corner of Slack Street and Grand Avenue, at the Grand Avenue entrance to the Cal Poly campus in San Luis Obispo. It is a joint project of Cal Poly and Cal Poly Partners, built by Coastal Community Builders to designs by RRM Design Group under a collaborative design-build contract, with a project budget of $25 million. The homes come in three plans of about 1,600 to 2,100 square feet with three bedrooms, two-car garages and solar, and are sold to eligible faculty and staff.
The university's facilities timeline lists planning from September 2021, preconstruction from January 2022, construction from September 2023, occupancy in March 2026 and acceptance in September 2026. Campus reporting put the physical construction start in summer 2024, after the horses on the site were moved in June 2024, and a May 2026 report described completion in three phases from July to November 2026. The Cal Poly Report of September 30, 2026 said homeowners were beginning to move in, with homes still available to eligible applicants from $749,500.
The facilities page still lists the stage as Construction, so the neighborhood is treated here as under construction with the first homes occupied. It is separate from the university's student housing program.
